OUR STORY & PHILOSOPHY
About the Designer:
Denise Castro is a potter from California relocated in Orlando, Florida. She obtained a Master's degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in ceramics from MSU, Kentucky. Now producing functional stoneware out of the Orlando Pottery studio, she has become obsessed with making teapots, striving to create the perfect tea habit station with matching designs and color. We would love to send our teapots or any vessel into your home.
You will also find many other functional types of vessels like cookie jars, vases, jewelry boxes, bowls and mugs.
The Making: The vessels are hand thrown on a pottery wheel using Specked Brown or Hazelnut Clay. First the circular shape is formed on the wheel, it could also have a lid, handle and spout formed and then the pot is left to dry, trimmed, carved and bisque fired. The pot is sprayed with two glazes before the second firing, the kiln takes the pot up to Cone 6.
All items are food safe, microwavable and dishwasher safe.
